AIS Hashtags win 2018 HKTag Super League

In a thrilling Grand Final, AIS Hashtags beat Tag Buffaloos 7 points to 4, to take home the prestigious HKTag Super League Cup at King’s Park.

It was an exciting match and – with a large number of would-be internationals playing for both sides – it was perhaps a glimpse into the performance we can expect at the Tag World Cup in November. See the full image gallery on Facebook.

The defending champions, Tag Buffaloos, gave it everything they had, but AIS Hashtags (sponsored by Brighten Management) pulled out their trump card, no doubt benefiting from the skill and game management of Hong Kong Tag Head Coach, James Elliot.

Most Valuable Player award went to Hashtag’s Megan So, a star player and Hong Kong international herself. Megan is a 100m and 200m sprinter, and adept sportswoman. She scored overall the highest points for her team, but more importantly, played an intelligent and considered tournament throughout.

She found spaces, positioned herself well for the ball, and chased down every possible point. Perhaps her most impressible performance came during the group stages, where she scored three of the Hashtags’ four tries against Wan Chai Warriors. There is no doubt that Megan will be one to watch at Coffs Harbour later this year.
